On Thursday, September 23, Lincoln Academy hosted its homecoming meet. 60 individuals from 7 teams completed the girls race and 65 runners from 7 teams completed the boys race. When the dust settled, the Lincoln girls recorded a 1 point victory over Mt. Blue, a Class A school that is consistently ranked among the better programs in the state. The boys team came in 3rd behind strong showings from Messalonskee and Mt. Blue.
LA’s course is a tough one and the times reflected that. Still, the results reveal solid performances throughout our roster. While no team member recorded a personal best, several wound up with negative splits running their last mile faster than the second. Special recognition goes to Liam Card who placed second in the boys race and made up a lot of ground while running his 3rd mile 22 seconds faster than the 2nd one. Marc Zoorob also completed his 1st race in a Lincoln uniform and managed to drop 44 seconds in his last mile. And Clara Goltz proved that finding that extra gear in the last few steps of the race can mean the difference in determining the team title as she just edged out Mt. Blue’s 4th runner to secure the victory. Official race results can be found online here and race photos can be found on Lincoln Academy's flickr page here.
