Lincoln Academy Cross Country is open to any LA student interested in being part of a team, having fun, and getting fit. Whether you're an experienced runner or true beginner, nobody gets cut from cross country.
LAXC's team spirit, enthusiasm, and support for each other sets us apart. We work together to have fun while achieving individual and team goals. The LAXC "Wall of Sound" is legendary. Not only has our boys team won the conference championship six out of the last nine years and our girls team won three out of the last four years, but both boys and girls teams have received the Southern Maine sportsmanship award voted on by other teams six out of the last eight years.
"Without cross country, I do not think I would be the person I am today. Being part of the team gave me the confidence and leadership skills to get involved with the school and my community. LAXC provided me with a support system that I could lean on if ever I needed academic or emotional help. It gave me a circle of friends that I am closer to than anyone else."

LAXC coaches work to create an inclusive and fun team culture in which everyone can participate and improve. They know high school is challenging and can feel pressure packed, especially for students new to Lincoln Academy. LAXC provides a great opportunity to build community, spend time with friends, get fit, and be ready to buckle down when it's time to focus on academics. Time and again, first-year team members indicate that cross country was the best thing they did, helping to ease the transition to high school and giving them confidence to succeed.
"As a parent of a very nervous LA 9th grader coming from a very small middle school, I can say, with all sincerity, that this team has changed her life. The connections my daughter made through LAXC have paved the way for her to already have a successful year at LA and she certainly started her first day of school more confident and excited because of the amazing friends she had already made on the team. The coaches care deeply about each member of this team."

If you're still not convinced that LAXC is for you, all we ask is that you take the two week cross country challenge. Join us for the first two weeks of official practice starting August 18, 2025 or better still come participate in summer training and get to know your teammates and have fun before the official sports season begins. If after two weeks of trying cross country, you're not 100% convinced it's for you that's fine. We promise we won't keep harassing you to join the team. But even if you think you're mildly interested, you've got nothing to lose. So lace up those sneakers and let's get moving!
"I am a parent of a cross country runner from Mt. Blue High School. I have attended the race that your school hosts for several years now. I am always impressed with the friendliness of your students, athletes, and coaching staff. Every year I am there, I remember what a great event you host. It is always a memorable and positive experience. Kudos to you, your athletes, their fans, and the Lincoln Academy community. You represent your school in the most positive way!"
