On Thursday, September 16 Lincoln Academy Cross Country (LAXC) competed in its second regular season meet at Medomak Valley High School on a flat, fast, three loop course. The girls team placed third in the team competition behind strong Camden and Cony squads. The boys team won the team competition in exciting fashion with a sixth runner tie-break over Cony. The score through the first five finishers for Cony and Lincoln was tied. In such cases, the placement of the sixth runner determines the winner. Conor Glasier was Lincoln's sixth runner and came in ahead of Cony's sixth runner to secure the win for Lincoln. This is a reminder that, where the team competition is concerned, every place counts so keep sprinting hard to the finish!
Several team members completed their first-ever high school cross country 5K in a very competitive race with 70 participants in the girls race and 85 in the boys. Official race results can be found online at Sub5 and race photos can be found on Lincoln Academy's flickr page here.
It was a big day for several Lincoln runners. A total of 17 team members achieved personal best times and ten team members who ran this meet last year dropped time. This week's biggest losers are Marina McManus who dropped 1 minute and 57 seconds from last year, Clara Goltz (-1:49), and Will Clark (-1:21). Finally, 28 team members ran negative splits from their second to last mile. Congratulations to everyone on a solid day at the races. The split sheets for the race are available below.
