On Saturday, September 40 members of the Lincoln Academy Cross Country team (LAXC) competed in the Panther 2-Miler hosted by Medomak Valley High School on a 2 loop course. Both the girls and boys teams placed first in the team competition and several team members completed their first-ever high school cross country race. Official race results can be found online at Maine Milesplit or Sub5 (note: the Sub5 results also include links to photos and finish line video). Additional team and individual photos can be found on Lincoln Academy's flickr page here.
The split sheets for Saturday are available here and below. On the split sheets, we compare times for team members who ran the 2-mile time trial last year at the beginning of the season against their performance on Saturday. The split sheets also include a pacing analysis for team members who ran a relatively even pace (even) or who ran the second mile faster than the first (negative - aka negative split).
I am pleased to say that almost everyone dropped time from last year's time trial. This week's BIGGEST LOSER (the person who drops the most time from one year to the next at the same - or in this case comparable - course) is CJ Savastano who dropped a whopping 3 minutes and 1 second!!! Marina McManus was the second biggest loser dropping 2:17.
Grace Houghton finished as LA's top female finisher in her first high school cross country race with a time of 13 minutes and 29 seconds. Liam Card was LA's top male runner finishing in 10:50.
Thank you to Iris Pope, Ashly Campbell, Tess McNamara, Lila Hall, and team siblings Owen Card and Nathaniel Hufnagel for recording splits and to the many parents, siblings, and supporters who helped kick off the 2021 season with spirit. We remain grateful to Medomak Valley for hosting such a quality event.
